Celebrating the Love of Cats

Today, December 1st starts National Cat Lover's Month. Whether you take care of the neighborhood strays or a feisty feline is the ruler of your home, this is the month to celebrate life with cats.

When you have a pet, it's fun to learn about them. Have you ever thought about how cats became such beloved pets? You have to go back "EONS" to know more about our feline companions that belong to the "felis catus" species. Be sure to watch the video and find out about the Cypress cats. It's fascinating to me.

I have to share adorable family cat pictures from my home and beyond. Life is never dull with one cat or more. Every cat comes with a story.

From left to right: Phoebe taking a break from studying for med school; Phoebe with friend Harvey, visiting Grandma for the holiday; Theo in the frig playing hide-and-seek at Thanksgiving; Simon welcoming his mommy home from work; Martine and Olivia perched for a picture-purrfect snapshot; Brooklyn and Kennedy at home in the Big Apple; TC, aka Tom's Cat, happy Tom is finally home and healthy for lots of attention and love, and my two feline furballs: Tyeger and his mommy, Missy Moo Midnight, ready for the holiday season.

Tyeger's expression seems to say, "Bah, Humbug," reminding me of the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. As the video clip shows, it's a story that has a vibrant film-making history.

The last picture should make you laugh. If you're hoping to buy one, don't bother looking. Sorry, this isn't an item for purchase. Trust me, I searched the net like a CRAZY cat lady until I called my friend who sent it to me to ask where I could find it! Only to find out it's just a joke. LOL!

Referring to "The Cat in Literature and Film," cats are extraordinary pets in my seven-book family saga. In my books and around the globe, cats have captured the hearts of many.

Sometimes, you must forgive them for having rambunctious fun, excited for the new things, especially Christmas trees, to explore. It's just a part of the holiday experience to expect when you have a cat. From the refrigerator to the tree, young Theo is deaf and fearless.

Whether a stray or a beloved in-home pet, give them special attention this month and all year round. You will love the headbutts, rubs, and endless entertainment and surprises. - Laura Beth
